News: Driver crashes into day care center on 51st Ave in Glendale

GLENDALE, AZ – According to AZFamily, a driver and his three child passengers were hurt when he crashed into the American Child Care Center on 51st Ave on Thursday morning.

A 32-year-old man was driving a pickup truck north on 51st Ave around 8 a.m. when he collided with a 79-year-old male driver turning left onto Butler Dr.

The collision sent the 32-year-old driver over the curb, a sidewalk, and utility pedestals before slamming into the daycare.

Following the collision, the 79-year-old man stayed at the scene for several minutes before leaving. Glendale police later contacted him. He was not hurt in the wreck.

None of the staff members or children in the daycare were hurt in the crash.

First responders transported the 32-year-old man and the three children in the pickup truck, ages 10, 8, and 5, to an area hospital with minor injuries.

The truck was extricated from the building, and an inspector found no structural damage.

Authorities are investigating whether speed contributed to the collision. Once they complete their investigation, they could issue civil traffic violations.
