News: Driver charged with fatal crash near Sunset Acres

PHOENIX, AZ – A woman was charged for a deadly crash that occurred on AZ 202 near 24th St on Sunday, according to AZFamily.

Nereyda Ontiveros Valenzuela, 48, was driving a Dodge Ram west on AZ 202 in the HOV lane around 2:45 a.m. when she slammed into a Nissan Sentra operated by Francisco Ortiz Lopez that was disabled from an earlier crash.

Lopez was ejected from the Sentra and died from his injuries.

Paramedics transported Valenzuela to an area hospital.

Authorities have charged VAlenzuela with manslaughter and endangerment.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigating the incident. They are investigating whether speed or impairment caused the crash.
