News: Authorities arrest man for deadly crash last year in Olive Villas

PHOENIX, AZ – According to AZFamily, authorities have arrested a man for a fatal collision that killed two people at N 43rd Ave and W Ruth Ave on Dec. 13, 2023.

Anthony Welch III, 28, was allegedly weaving in and out of traffic at around 80 mph in a 45 mph zone when he slammed into a car occupied by Thomas Oviatt, 80, and Janette Oviatt, 79, as they were turning left.

Rescue crews pronounced Janette dead at the scene and transported Thomas to an area hospital, where he died.

First responders took Welch to an area hospital, where he was treated and released. He did not display signs of impairment.

Authorities arrested Welch on two counts of reckless manslaughter. His bond is set at $200,000.
