News: Alleged impaired driver strikes, injures bicyclist on Old Gilbert Rd

MESA, AZ – According to AZ Family, a driver collided with a bicyclist near Gilbert Rd & N Old Gilbert Rd on Friday.

A driver was heading north on Gilbert Rd when they hit a curb and strayed into the southbound lane of Old Gilbert Rd before striking a man riding a bicycle west from the canal on Old Gilbert Rd around 6 a.m.

Rescue crews transported the bicyclist to an area hospital in critical condition.

Authorities determined the driver was impaired. Charges are pending.

The Mesa Police Department is investigating the incident.
