News: Alleged DUI driver involved in fatal dirt bike crash in Phoenix 

PHOENIX, AZ – A truck driver was suspected of driving under the influence prior to colliding with a dirt bike that led a 19-year-old woman’s death Wednesday.

Phoenix police told AZ Family that the events unfolded before 10 p.m. when the truck driver, pursuing a left turn, collided with a dirt bike at the intersection of 16th Street and Southern Avenue. Officers said the dirt bike was going south on the 16th at the time of the crash.

The 19-year-old woman, who was a dirt bike passenger, sustained critical, life-threatening injuries. EMS crews transported the young woman to a hospital, where she later died.

Police processed the truck driver for DUI and confirmed that the dirt bike driver was not impaired.

Officers are continuing to investigate the details behind the collision and have not confirmed any official charges.
