News: Alleged DUI driver causes crash in Phoenix that sends 3 to hospital 

PHOENIX, AZ – An alleged DUI driver was responsible for causing a crash that sent three people to the hospital on Sunday, AZFamily reports. 

The incident unfolded around 1 a.m. on I-17 when Phoenix police conducted a traffic stop for one vehicle driven by the alleged DUI driver. The suspected impaired driver, operating a sedan, refused to stop and fled the scene. 

A Phoenix Police helicopter kept an eye on that fleeing vehicle and said they crashed into a sedan vehicle occupied by two men and one woman. 

The three injured occupants were sent to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Both vehicles were left with significant damage. 

Police arrested the fleeing driver for DUI. 

The suspect is expected to face other charges as well. Police did not explain the specifics of those charges, nor did they publicly disclose the suspect’s identity.
