PHOENIX, AZ – Phoenix Police arrested an alleged DUI driver following a crash that involved a Phoenix Fire Department fire engine truck on Tuesday, KOLD said.
Police said the crash occurred before 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of North 7th Avenue and West Northern Avenue. Preliminary details show that the alleged DUI driver ran a red light before crashing into the driver’s side of the fire engine truck.
The suspect and the Phoenix firefighters do not appear to have been injured.
Phoenix Police said the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Luis Enrique Barron Ruiz, exhibited signs of impairment and was said to have been using methamphetamine.
Officials booked Ruiz into jail, and he is expected to face DUI and drug-related charges.
