News: 1 killed, 3 hospitalized following fiery multi-vehicle collision in North Phoenix

NORTH PHOENIX, AZ – One man died, and three women were sent to the hospital following a fiery multi-vehicle collision in North Phoenix that happened before 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Phoenix Police told Arizona Family that a 28-year-old man was traveling at a high rate of speed on 35th Avenue when he crashed into another vehicle turning left on a private driveway near Bell Road.

The impact caused one vehicle to overturn and another to catch on fire. A third vehicle was reportedly involved, but police did not specify what role they played in that crash. Regardless, the speeding driver went on to succumb to his injuries at the scene, while three women sustained unspecified injuries.

EMS crews rushed the women to a hospital. The extent of their injuries was not disclosed, although they are expected to survive.

Police have since identified the speeding driver as 28-year-old John David Segovia.

Impairment was not a contributing factor in the crash, police confirmed.
