News: Phoenix PD Officer, civilian driver hurt in 4th of July collision 

PHOENIX, AZ – A Phoenix police officer and a civilian driver were injured in a collision that happened on the Fourth of July, 12 News reports.

The officer’s vehicle and the civilian driver’s vehicle collided around 8 p.m. near the intersection of 67th Avenue and McDowell Road. First responders confirmed that the officer was off-duty at the time of the collision and was left in serious condition.

The other driver did not appear to be seriously injured, but was taken to an area hospital, along with the officer.

Officials shut down the area for several hours for the scene clearance process.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the details behind the crash.
