News: Scottsdale PD suspect speed, impairment in fatal solo crash

SCOTTSDALE, AZ – Scottsdale police suspect speed and impairment were contributing factors behind a fatal solo crash outside of the Scottsdale Crossing on Friday.

Police told AZFamily that a driver crashed into a pole off the intersection of North Scottsdale Road and East Windsor Avenue. Police suspect the motorist had drugs or alcohol in their system and was speeding, which is what caused them to lose control of their vehicle.

EMS crews transported the driver to a hospital, where they later died.

Police closed Scottsdale in both directions for the scene clean-up process and investigation, and reopened all lanes around 6:45 p.m.
