News: Motorcyclist killed in rear-end crash with Waymo in Tempe 

TEMPE, AZ – A motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries after rear-ending a Waymo, a self-driving car, that took place near Tempe’s ASU campus on Sunday.

The two-vehicle crash happened around 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Lemon Street and Rural Road, according to AZ Family. Preliminary details show that the motorcyclist rear-ended the Waymo as it was making a right turn and yielding to a pedestrian. Another vehicle struck the motorcycle and failed to render aid and fled the scene.

EMS crews were called to the scene and transported the motorcyclist to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

The hit-and-run suspect was identified as an ASU student. The victim’s identity and charges have not been disclosed.
