SUN LAKES, AZ – A driver is dead after they ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle at S E J Robson Blvd and E Riggs Rd on Friday, according to AZFamily.
Rita Halverson, 67, ran a red light and slammed into a vehicle driven by a 58-year-old woman around 2:30 p.m.
Rescue crews transported Halverson to an area hospital, where she died. They took the other driver to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Crews closed the area so authorities could investigate the wreck.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
