TEMPE, AZ – A 33-year-old male drummer for an Indie band was left seriously injured as a result of a hit-and-run crash that happened in Tempe last Friday, Oct. 9.
12News said the crash happened on southbound McClintock Drive near Broadway Road. The drummer was identified as Adan Alcala, who plays for The Outlaw Mariachi, a Los Angeles-based rock mariachi and comedy band.
Alcala’s wife, Jennifer Elford, said Alcala was crossing the street, on his way to grab a snack from a convenience store, when he was struck by a Tesla on southbound McClintock Drive near Broadway Avenue.
The impact left Alcala with broken bones in his neck, leg, and ankle. EMS crews rushed him to a local hospital.
According to Elford, Acala has undergone several surgeries, including a spleen removal surgery and surgeries for those aforementioned neck, leg, and ankle injuries.
Police said they later found the Tesla, but said it was abandoned. At this time, officers have not confirmed what the suspect looks like.
