PHOENIX, AZ – Officials have released the name of the man who died in a bus crash near N 79th Ave and W Van Buren St on Monday morning, according to AZFamily.
The driver of a shuttle bus took his foot off the bus, hit a parked vehicle, and struck George Meletis, 59, around 5 a.m. The driver then slammed into another parked and unoccupied bus.
First responders pronounced Meletis dead at the scene. They transported two men inside the bus to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. All three victims were employed by Valley Metro.
The Phoenix Police Department is investigating the incident. After the investigation is complete, they will decide whether to charge anyone.
