News: Cruiser collides with semi in Tempe, hurting 1

TEMPE, AZ – A deputy from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office went to the hospital after a crash with a semi-truck on Wednesday, reports Arizona’s Family 3 TV.

The incident happened around 4 a.m. in the area of East Baseline Road and South Rural Road, which is just southwest of CityScape at Lakeshore.

The investigation thus far indicates that an eastbound 18-wheeler t-boned the southbound police cruiser in the intersection. Video footage from the scene suggests that the semi-truck overturned as a result of the collision.

The deputy sustained non-critical injuries in the wreck.

Medics also transported the driver of the semi-truck to the hospital. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.

A full investigation is underway.
